# Environment and Rate Limits

EBSCOhost API Beta is available through the production environment. After obtaining an access token, applications can use the production base URL shown below to access supported API capabilities.

# Availability

EBSCOhost API Beta is available only to approved beta participants. Additional customers may be onboarded throughout the beta program. The features, functionality, and onboarding processes may evolve as customer feedback is incorporated.

# Rate Limiting Guidance

Applications should be designed to operate within applicable rate limits and usage controls.

Applications should:

* Implement client-side throttling
* Handle HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests) responses
* Use exponential backoff when retrying requests
* Avoid excessive or abusive traffic patterns

All usage must comply with applicable terms of service, usage policies, and documented rate limits.
