When will the Beta be available?
October 2026

How do I get started?
Documentation will be available before launch.

What authentication will the Beta use?
Researcher API Beta will support OAuth 2 client credentials grant flow.

How long will the Beta last?
The Beta period is expected to last ~6 months.

Does the Beta support Guest Access?
Yes

Will there be API changes during Beta?
Expect there to be some changes during the Beta as we refine details and incorporate customer feedback.

Can I use my existing EDS API profile with the Beta?
No. Researcher API Beta will use your existing EDS UI or EBSCOhost UI profiles. Optionally, you can create a stand-alone profile for Researcher API Beta, but cannot use one dedicated to EDS API.

Can I use Researcher API Beta with my existing EDS API integration?
Yes. You are welcome to extend your EDS API integration with AI Insights and Citation Discovery from Researcher API Beta. Please be aware that EDS API and Researcher API Beta each have their own authentication and will need to be managed separately by your application.

Does Researcher API Beta replace EDS API?
While Researcher API is the eventual successor to both EDS API and EBSCOhost API (EIT), the Beta does not replace either.

What will happen to EDS API?
EDS API remains stable and available for the foreseeable future. Once Researcher API is out of Beta, we will recommend new integrations start with Researcher API. Plans will be communicated well in advance of any changes needed for existing integrations.

Will Researcher API support more features?
Yes. After Beta, our goal is to release applicable features to both our UI and API together.
