Overview

What Is EBSCOhost AI Exchange?

EBSCOhost AI Exchange (AI Exchange) is a rights-aware platform that connects large language models (LLMs), enterprise AI systems, and applications to trusted scholarly content. It sits between three groups:

  • Publishers, who contribute content under defined terms
  • AI systems, such as LLMs, copilots, and enterprise tools
  • End users, such as researchers, students, and employees

The result is AI output grounded in licensed, verifiable, and citable research.

Key Characteristics

  • Governed access. Content is delivered with rights-aware controls that publishers define.
  • Entitlement-based access. Only authorized users can retrieve licensed content, based on your institution's existing entitlements.
  • Enriched metadata. Metadata is structured for AI use and discovery.
  • Transparent attribution. Content sources are tracked and cited.
  • Trusted knowledge. Content is authoritative and comes from verified publishers.

Bridge Results and Bridge Answers

AI Exchange offers two approaches for bringing an institution's EBSCOhost content into its AI agent.

Bridge Results shows an institution's EBSCOhost content inside the institution's AI agent. It works with your authentication and provides links to EBSCOhost content. Users can follow a link back to EBSCOhost to reach the full text, where available.

Bridge Answers lets AI agents create outputs and answers based on EBSCOhost content. The outputs include links back to EBSCOhost, which support verification, fact-checking, and grounding.

To connect your organization's AI client, start with Register Your App. For more background, see How AI Exchange Works.
