Connect your AI Client

An AI client connects to EBSCOhost AI Exchange through a connector that an administrator adds.

What an AI Client Is

An AI client is the application an administrator connects and users work in, such as Claude or ChatGPT.

What a Connector Is

A connector is a saved entry in an AI client that points to a source by its URL and tells the client how to sign in to it. For AI Exchange, that URL is the MCP URL.

What You Need

  • Administrator access. You need administrator access in your AI client.
  • A Client ID. EBSCO provides a unique Client ID.
  • The MCP URL. The MCP URL is the same in every AI client: https://mcp.agents.ebscohost.com/mcp.

Administrators and Users

An administrator sets up the connector once and makes it available to the organization's users. Each user then signs in with their own account. When a question calls for EBSCOhost content, the AI client can call AI Exchange.

Keep It Secure

AI clients warn that custom connectors have not been reviewed by the AI provider. Limit who can use the connector.
